UES, Inc. has an opportunity available for a Ph.D. level Mycologist to join our team working within the Air Force Research Laboratory, Materials and Manufacturing Directorate at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. The position will be part of the Biocorrosion and Biodegradation Team within AFRL.
The Mycologist will have expertise in molecular biology and forward and reverse genetics. A successful candidate will be proficient in eukaryotic physiology and cell biology. This individual must be experience in fluorescent and confocal microscopy, have experience in quantitative image analysis and be comfortable in automating parts of such analysis. Working experience with one of the filamentous model systems (Neurospora, Aspergillus, Ashbya, etc.) and with studying cell polarity is preferred. Some experience with bioinformatics (sequence, alignments, structural analysis, etc.) is preferred. This position will focus on hypothesis-driven research, independent experimental design, writing manuscripts and proposals, preparing and giving presentations and working as part of an interdisciplinary team. Travel to scientific conferences and collaborator institutions is expected when travel restrictions are lifted.
